Booking Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026
This policy applies to bookings made on oame.
How booking works
- The booker logs in or creates a free oame account, then sends an offer, asks for a quote, or sends a TFP offer (TFP is only available with creatives on Pro). Someone who isn't on oame yet can be booked by email: they get the request by email and create a free account to reply.
- The creative accepts, sends a counter offer or quote, or declines. Offers, quote requests and counter offers can be answered for 72 hours after they're sent. After that they expire, and the creative can ask the booker to send them again.
- Once the creative accepts, the booker confirms the booking and adds a payment method. The booking is confirmed at that point.
- The booker's card is checked (authorised) 6 days before the first booked day and charged on the first day. The booker pays no booking fee.
- The creative is paid 72 hours after the job, unless a problem is reported. Stripe's payment processing cost is taken from the creative's payment. Creatives on the Free plan also pay oame's 6% fee; creatives on Pro pay no oame fee.
Cancellations
| When the booker cancels | Cancellation fee | The person booked gets |
|---|---|---|
| Before the booking is confirmed | None. The offer is withdrawn. | Nothing |
| 48 hours or more before the start | None | Nothing |
| 24 to 48 hours before the start | Half the booking amount | Half |
| Less than 24 hours before the start, after the start, or a no-show | The full booking amount | All of it |
- Times are measured from the start of each person's first booked day, in the time zone of the booking location.
- Cards are charged on the first booked day, so a free cancellation means nothing is charged. A cancellation fee is charged to the booker's card when they cancel. If the booker pays by invoice, the fee goes on an invoice instead.
- Card fees on a cancellation fee aren't refunded.
- When a project is cancelled, each person booked is worked out separately, and any open offers are withdrawn. Everyone is emailed.
- You'll see the fee before you confirm. To cancel, use Cancel on the booking or project, or email info@oame.io.
When the person booked cancels
- The booker pays nothing for them, and anything already paid for them is refunded in full.
- The booker is emailed and can postpone the project to find new dates. This is free, because the person booked cancelled.
- The person booked gets a warning. Two cancellations within 90 days means oame reviews their account. A cancellation because of illness, with a doctor's note sent to info@oame.io, doesn't count.
Postponing a booking (pausing or changing the dates)
You can postpone a confirmed booking by pausing it or by changing its dates.
| When you postpone | What it costs |
|---|---|
| 48 hours or more before the start | Nothing |
| Less than 48 hours before the start, and the person can make the new dates | Nothing |
| Less than 48 hours before the start, and the person can't make the new dates | The cancellation fee in the table above, worked out from when you postponed |
- Each person who was confirmed is asked to accept the new dates. There's no time limit to reply.
- There's no limit on how often you postpone. If the person keeps making the new dates, there's never a fee.
- A paused booking needs new dates within 60 days. If it isn't resumed by then, it's cancelled automatically, with the fee worked out as if it had been cancelled on the day it was paused.
- Bad weather or an emergency: postpone, and if the person can make the new dates, nobody pays a fee. The person booked can also choose to waive a cancellation fee.
- You'll see any fee before you pause, change the dates or cancel.
Removing a cancelled booking from your list
Either person can delete a cancelled project or booking from their own list. This doesn't change what the other person sees, and the payment and invoices stay in Payments for both. A booking with an open problem report can't be deleted until it's resolved.
Disagreements
If you think a cancellation wasn't fair, email info@oame.io. We'll look at what happened and decide.
Problems with a booking
If something goes wrong, use Report a problem on the booking within 48 hours of the end of the job, or email info@oame.io. The payment is paused while we look into it. We'll look at what happened, may message both people in their oame inbox, and then decide on a full refund, a partial refund, or paying the creative as agreed. We'll tell both people the outcome.
